mission statement

The Friends of Casa de Oro Library mission is to:

  • Promote the library in our community;

  • Raise funds to provide books, equipment, and programs beyond the ordinary library budget;

  • Encourage volunteers to support library services.

History

Library

Casa de Oro library was founded in 1962. Neighbors were excited to have this vital addition to the community. Just 2,000 square feet, circulation at that time was 20,000 items annually. To accommodate the growing collection and usage, the library first moved to Campo Road in 2002 and then again in 2007 to the current strip mall site of 6,300 square feet.

Friends of Casa de Oro Library

Originally founded in 1985, the Friends was active for decades supporting the library with used book sales and other activities. Reinvented in 2019 by community members who sought to invigorate the organization, the group is actively engaged in advocating for the new, larger, free-standing library facility as well as providing traditional fundraising and volunteer support.

The land has been acquired and $22Million is set aside for construction. We support the plan to move forward with constructing the new 11,000 square foot library with an accelerated design/build process targeting completion by the start of the 2024 school year
